Catching Fire Casting Rumors – Finnick, Mags and Beetee
The word from Zap2it is that Sam Claflin is the frontrunner to play Finnick Odair in Catching Fire.
Variety has also weighed in, supporting the news that Sam is the first choice for the District 4 tribute, but adding that Melissa Leo and Tony Shalhoub are also on the short list to play Mags asnd Beetee respectively.
With two blockbusters under his belt, Brit thesp Sam Claflin looks to be lining up one more, as sources tell Variety that the Snow White and the Huntsman star is the choice to play Finnick Odair in Lionsgate’s sequel The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.
Additionally, sources say that Oscar winner Melissa Leo and three-time Emmy winner Tony Shalhoub are the frontrunners to play Mags and Beetee, respectively. Regardless of the status of their potential involvement, Claflin, Leo and Shalhoub are all on the studio’s shortlist for roles in the highly-anticipated sequel.
Lionsgate and all of the actors’ respective reps had no comment on the casting.
This comes hot on the news that Amanda Plummer has been officially cast to play Wiress.
So what do you think? Can you see any of these actors in the roles? I have an open mind, but I was surprised by the choice of Melissa Leo as she seems too young to play Mags, but I guess with make up and being the amazing actress that she is, she could pull it off.

Hmm,I don’t know about Sam playing Finnick.I pictured someone more handsome.But if the filmakers decide to pick him I’m sure it’ll be for the right reasons.
About Melissa Leo,I agree.I pictured someone WAY older to play Mags.
As for Tony,I pictured someone geekier looking but I know he can act so if they pick him no complaints from me.

he’s supposed to have dark red hair. they’ll die it, hopefully. jennifer was blonde, and josh was a brunette, but they fixed that for us.

I don’t see Shalhoub as Beetee. Beetee may be old, but he isn’t 60. I imagined him as a 30-year-old or a 25-year-old, no matter when be won the Games. I just don’t see it.
No I never want Sam to play Finnick I was really hoping it would be Garret Hudlund
Michael Emerson should play Beetee imho. It would be perfect casting. Too bad.
