Finding the Victor’s Village for Catching Fire
The Hunger Games sequel, Catching Fire is set to be shot in the US city of Atlanta and the Hawaiian island of Kauai. Now Celebuzz is reporting that the search is on to find the perfect spot in Atlanta to film scenes for District 12′s Victor’s Village.
Catching Fire, the second book in The Hunger Games series, will film in Atlanta, Georgia, Celebuzz can confirm.
The first film was shot on location in North Carolina; now, we can reveal brand-new details on what exactly will be shot in Atlanta.
Sources close to the production tell us various locations in Georgia are currently being looked at for “Victor’s Village” in District 12 — the affluent neighborhood where winners of the Hunger Games live.
There are only three victors from District 12: Katniss Everdeen, Peeta Mellark and Haymitch. Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) and Peeta (Josh Hutcherson) live together, while Haymitch (Woody Harrelson) lives on his own.
Katniss’ mansion is described as white and clean; Haymitch’s mansion has more of a cottage feel with wooden windows.
Well, they didn’t quite get that right as Katniss and Peeta DON’T live together, but I can’t wait to see how they depict it. Kauai is expected to be the filming location for the Arena of the Quarter Quell. Just as a side note, this news is not official from Lionsgate, but from all of the sources around, I think it’s safe to say that it’s pretty much on the money.

They’d better not change the story up THAT much.We all know that Katniss and Peeta weren’t living together.Also,(this is about the last movie not CF)when Katniss was acting like she loved Peeta in the arena,they didn’t really make it seem like she was acting for the cameras.Except for that little part where Haymitch sent Katniss that package with a note.Also,anyone remember the last part in The Hunger Games(book),where Katniss and Peeta are fixing to go home and she tells him she was only acting like she loved him and he thought she really did?The point I’m trying to make is,are the filmakers going to make it seem like Katniss wasn’t acting for the cameras,basically change around Katniss and Peeta’s whole relationship dynamic?

Ooh, I completely agree with GameGal. I noticed it was very odd how it didn’t look like Katniss wanted to be with Gale in anyway, shape, or fashion. In the Games, I can tell that it was IMPLIED that she was acting (though I believe it’s a lot harder to put acting on top of acting, if you know what I mean), but it didn’t necessarily show through that much. I was very disappointed at the ending when she was to reveal that I was all an act. They wouldn’t change one of the most important parts of the trilogy that much, would they?
I did turn to my mom and rant about it, but she said they’ll probably put emphasis on the situation in the beginning of CF. Hopefully, she’s right. Either way, I’m sure the movie is going to be amazing like the first one.
