Ever since fans of The Hunger Games trilogy knew that they were going to make the books into movies, there’s been speculation about just who would play Finnick Odair. Today we finally get our official answer. Lionsgate has announced that Sam Claflin will indeed take on the role in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.
Sam had a break out role as the romantic lead in last year’s “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides”, he also starred in the huge hit “Snow White and the Huntsman” playing Prince William alongside Kristen Stewart, Charlise Theron and Chris Hemsworth. He recently finished filming “The Quiet Ones” with Jarred Harris as well as “Mary and Martha” in which he co-stars with Hilary Swank.
I’m sure none of you need reminding, but just in case you do, Finnick Odair is the tribute from District 4. He managed to win the 65th Hunger Games at the age of 14. During those Games he was sent a trident, one of the most expensive gifts ever given.
In Catching Fire, he’s described as being tall, muscular and athletic, with golden skin, bronze-colored hair, and seafoam green eyes.
