Following Coldplay’s ‘Atlas’ track, The National have been confirmed to be included onThe Hunger Games: Catching Fire soundtrack.
The Ohio based outfit are contributing a track called ’Lean’. But apparently it almsot didn’t make it onto the soundtrack with producers fearing it was too dark. According to NME:
The National submitted a song for the “Hunger Games: Catching Fire” soundtrack with the title “Dying Is Easy,” but the folks behind the sure-to-be massive sequel felt the name was too grim. The song name has since been changed to “Lean.”
“The song almost didn’t make it because it was too dark for the ‘Hunger Games’ soundtrack, which I thought was sort of funny because it’s about killing kids,” singer Matt Berninger told NME. “I don’t know how a song can be darker than that? So we had to change the name of the song; I actually like the name ‘Lean.’”
Coldplay recently released “Atlas,” the song the band recorded for “Catching Fire.”
So what do you think of The National being included?
